4th of July Weekend 2010

I hope everyone had an awesome 4th of July weekend.....
This past weekend was very relaxing, yet eventful.... On Saturday afternoon/evening , Avi and I took a trip to New Hope, PA. My parents have been taking me there since I was a baby, so it holds a special place in my heart. It's a cute little village with artsy shops, galleries, vintage clothing boutiques, haunted bed and breakfast inns, and Witchery shops that sell spellbooks, dried herbs, crystals, and give tarot readings. New Hope also attracts a lot of bikers, they were all out and about vrooming down the main street on Saturday! There is just a spirit there that I have never felt anywhere else, and it has always been my dream to live there and be surrounded by that culture every single day...

It is also an unfortunate tourist trap, but mostly on holidays. Here are some pictures of our visit on Saturday...

(All of these photos are courtesy of Avi Patel, and I did some photo retouching)

Here is a little outhouse outside of an old historical building... I'm not exactly sure what it was used for, lol....

The Bucks County PlayHouse sits along a little stream/river that flows into the Delaware River

We ate at Cafe Wildflower, they serve a variety of cultured foods such as Mexican, American, Italian, and Thai. What an interesting mix ! It smelled so good outside the little bistro, and the prices seemed decent , so we went inside! We ordered Thai food, Pad See-Ew which are noodles with broccoli in a brown egg sauce, and a Ginger Shrimp Dish with Mushrooms Peppers, Onions... I really wish we got pictures of the food, cuz it looked gorgeous on the plate, and boy was it DELICIOUS! I think we were just way too hungry to even think of taking pics of it....

Here is a picture of me with a Thai statue outside of the bistro

A buddha statue inside the bistro

Cafe Wildflower also showed some patriotism !

Avi deciding what he wants to order ( I took this one :-D )

Some hippies jam out outside of the bistro , this guy was an AWESOME Sitar player!! I have never seen someone play it live and in the flesh before... it was amazing !!

A girl intertwines herself with a hula hoop to the magical sounds of the sitar...

Me....

A biker and his pooch patriotically cruise down the strip

An alleyway to a cafe...

Some star lanterns hanging outside of a Grateful Dead Novelty Store...

Time to leave, time was running out of our meter! We had a lovely day <3

Avi pulled over to the side of the road right outside of New Hope , to take one more picture of the sun melting off into the horizon

We saw fireworks on our drive home!! We didn't get pictures of those though lol....

Here are some pictures from July 4th.
It is the 13th anniversay of my Pop Pop's death. He died of cancer on the 4th of July when I was 13 years old. When he was younger he served in the Korean War, so he is a war vet, so it is kind of victorious that he died on such a Patriotic holiday...

These fireworks are dedicated to him!

The cotton candy sky as me and Avi waited for some fireworks !!

I love the vibrant blue streaks in this one...

I think these were from the finale...

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend, Avi and I sure did :-D

New Hope is definitely touristy, but it's also so magical and pretty that I can overlook it. :) I plan to visit it again on one of my return trips back home.

Looks like you two had a fantastic fourth, the photos are wonderful!

Hooray New Hope. I've been going there since I was in high school. We even got married across the bridge in Lambertville. That place is magical - plain and simple.
